Founded in 2003, Fever-Tree is the world’s leading supplier of premium carbonated mixers for alcoholic spirits by retail sales value, with distribution to over 70 countries internationally. It sells a range of 14 differentiated flavors to hotels, restaurants, bars and cafes as well as supermarkets and off-licenses for retail purchase throughout the UK and in the USA, Spain, and Belgium. The first mover and innovator of the premium mixer category, Fever-Tree was voted the no.1 best-selling and no.1 trending tonic water four years running by the World’s best bars in Drinks International’s Annual Brand Report.
The UK-based company employs 245 people globally in a range of roles. Since inception, it has operated a distributed model, with many people working from their home offices. When the coronavirus struck and all employees started working from home, Fever-Tree easily enabled remote access to critical applications using its existing OneLogin deployment.
Protecting applications and information
To complement the antivirus solution, next-generation firewall, and clever email filtering that Fever-Tree used, it chose OneLogin to secure employee laptops and access to key cloud-based applications including Office 365 and Egnyte. This measure was necessary to provide better visibility into network access so Fever-Tree could prevent hacking attempts.
Before deploying OneLogin, Fever-Tree had suffered a network breach and ransomware installation that disrupted business operations.
With OneLogin Desktop and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Fever-Tree enhanced its end-user security while enabling remote users to be as mobile as possible from an MFA perspective. Fever-Tree’s Head Of IT, Mayur Mistry was impressed with the ease of use and integration. “I’m the only person in IT for Fever-Tree and I don’t want to struggle to do the basics. OneLogin makes it easy to do my job, enabling me to do many key things with the click of a button.”
Seamlessly authenticating all remote users
Once all Fever-Tree employees started working from home in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the transition was seamless. With OneLogin Desktop and security policies installed on everyone’s machines, all laptops – even Macintoshes – are compliant with how Fever-Tree runs its infrastructure.
Employees access the company’s network via OneLogin MFA to use Office 365 and Egnyte. While users can securely access critical applications, Mayur can track when someone is trying to access a user account. “Now we have the visibility and protection to ensure employee laptops are secure and that employees are using their devices as intended,” says Mayur.
Even while working remotely, Mayur maintains tight control over deprovisioning. “I can easily deactivate a user and remove their license via the OneLogin dashboard, which is much simpler than logging into Active Directory. I can even log into the OneLogin dashboard via my mobile phone which makes it possible for me to quickly handle the deactivation process from anywhere at any time,” he continues.
Driving business forward unimpeded
Though the UK government has given businesses the green light for returning to work in offices, all of Fever-Tree’s employees are continuing to work from home. Considering that this company has long operated a distributed model, this is no surprise. What the company might not have expected was experiencing business growth during the pandemic.
Even as bar and restaurant business completely halted in most areas of the world, Fever-Tree has seen high demand for its mixers for at-home consumption, through online sales, grocery stores, and liquor stores. This very well could be a banner year for this global leader, which generated global revenue of approximately $328 million last year.
“Our company has been growing during the pandemic, with a major driver being a success in the US market. All of our employees are busy and engaged, we haven’t seen a productivity dip since everyone started working from home, OneLogin has helped with that productivity and security of working remotely,” concludes Mayur.
